I sat about 10 feet on a floor in front of Paul Stookey while he played some children’s songs in a tiny children’s bookstore here in Alexandria VA and got to meet him.
That was a joy I will never forget !

i saw PPM in concert about 6 times, and the first time Paul sang this was a huge thrill. A mesmerizing few minutes, between the guitar work and the touching lyrics. That’s one of my favorites.

Not sure if this comment got recorded but Paul did not get one penny off of this song. He gave the rights up to public domain giving this song to anyone that needed it. God bless you Paul (Noel Paul Stookey)

I am amazed at how many couples have had this played at their weddings. My own best friend’s brother had it played at his wedding over 20 years ago as well.
